The irreverent humor of a group of British tourists did not go down well with authorities on the island of Crete today.
The tourists paraded through the popular resort of Malia dressed “in nun attire and naughty lingerie”.
Police made 17 arrests on the grounds of insulting the Catholic church.
The tourists will be officially charged and may face a fine, a police source said. They are unlikely to be jailed for the misdemeanor offense.
Malia is a magnet for young travelers and has a long tradition of drunken antics by tourists.
