Rough turbulence injured 21 passengers aboard a Brazilian airliner yesterday as a flight from Miami approached Sao Paulo.
Passengers aboard a TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A330-200 reported the aircraft twice went into a steep dive, throwing a number of them against the ceiling of the cabin. Three people suffered broken bones.
TAM flight 8095, with 154 passengers on board, landed safely 30 minutes later.
Thirteen passengers were treated at the airport, eight other passengers were taken to various hospitals.
Three people remain hospitalized.
