An emergency medical technician working a crime scene in New York City took a cell-phone photograph of a corpse and posted it on Facebook, say prosecutors.
Mark Musarella, 46, worked as an EMT for Richmond University Medical Center and is accused of photographing 26-year-old Caroline Wimmer’s body after he responded to her apartment on Greenleaf Avenue in West Brighton on March 30.
Musarella pleaded not guilty to a charge of official misconduct at his arraignment yesterday. The retired police officer was released on his own recognizance.
Defense lawyer Edward J. Pavia Jr. says the photo was posted by accident, and Musarella is sorry.
Prosecutors say Musarella responded to the emergency call, snapped a picture of Wimmer’s body and posted the image on his page on the social networking Web site.
One of Musarella’s friends on the social networking site spotted the photo and contacted hospital officials, who promptly fired him and informed the NYPD.
Musarella faces up to a year in jail if convicted.
Caroline Wimmer was found strangled with her hair dryer. A male acquaintance has been charged with her murder.

OK, now you’re edging up on necrophilia. (It’s just matter of time until you post a necrophilia story.) Did you hear the one about the two necrophiliacs as they walked past the funeral home? One said to the other, “Hey, how ’bout us stopping in for a cold one?”

Zelda,
Please, please! Do you think I am that obtuse? Recognize a little irony why don’t you? I would guess that you are liberal arts major from the Northwest US. I also would think you would be able to read between the lines a bit, but if you can’t … this is what is behind what I wrote: All of us who frequent this interesting website know it is chock full of the danse macabre but brought forward in a civilized way. There have been almost no taboos that haven’t been represented here. My “joke” which is the very crudest I’ve ever heard, or now told, was pointing that out. If Calvin Palmer can take my gentle ribbing without offense I would expect you as an intelligent, interesting person would be able to as well. Ease up please. I apologize if I offended you personally.
Regards, Glen
