Shots fired after woman hostage escapes from her captor

The Connecticut woman held hostage by her ex-husband since 9:00 a.m. today escaped from her captor this evening as the house was surrounded by police and a SWAT team.
Nancy Tyler was debriefed by police and was taken away in an ambulance to St Francis Hospital in Hartford.

Serial killer shot dead by police

Residents of Gaffney, South Carolina, can once again rest easy. The serial killer who terrorized the community was shot dead by police in North Carolina yesterday.
Patrick Tracy Burris, 41, was shot by officers investigating a burglary in Gastonia, 30 miles from where the killing spree that claimed five lives started on June 27.
