A man drove over the South Rim of the Grand Canyon this morning, plunging 600 feet to his death.
Park rangers received several calls around 6:00 a.m. saying that a car had gone over the edge near the El Tovar Hotel, Arizona.
Grand Canyon National Park spokeswoman Shannan Marcak said tire tracks were found leading to the edge of the canyon behind the Thunderbird Lodge.
Rescue personnel found the vehicle and the body of a male nearby.
The National Park Service is investigating. Marcak said no additional information was immediately available.
