A man died early today when he became impaled on a large shard of glass after throwing a woman through the window of store in London’s West End.
The pair were seen arguing shortly after 2:00 a.m. and witnesses said the man threw the woman against the window of Banana Republic, at the junction of Regent Street and Great Marlborough Street.
After throwing the woman against the store’s window several times, the glass shattered and the pair fell through, leaving the man fatally wounded.
Paramedics arrived but the 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman, also 30, was taken to hospital. She was treated for multiple cuts.
A Metropolitan police spokesman said: “Shortly before 2.15am, officers on patrol were informed by a member of the public of an altercation in Great Marlborough Street.
“When officers arrived … they found a male, believed to have gone through the window of a shop. A woman was also found at the scene, suffering from cuts.
“Officers believe they know who the deceased is but await formal identification and next of kin to be informed.”
