Man charged with murder of Jermain Defoe’s brother

A man was charged todaywith murdering the half-brother of Tottenham Hotspur and England star Jermain Defoe.

Christopher Farley, 33, of Leytonstone, east London, will appear tomorrow at Redbridge Magistrates’ Court.

Farley is accused of inflicting fatal injuries on Jade Defoe, 26, in a street attack on 20 April.

Defoe died in hospital five days later. A post-mortem examination held at East Ham mortuary cited a head injury as the cause of death as a head injury.

The attack took place some time before 5:00 p.m. in Walnut Gardens, near the junction with High Road, in Leytonstone. The Metropolitan Police said no weapon was used.

Jade Defoe, also known as Gavin and Esco Bars, was popular as a grime DJ on the urban music scene. More than 600 fans joined a tribute page created on Facebook.

    Hi there, I think I’ve “met” you on the Stephen Foster blog?

    I was telling my OH about this the other day, but I had no information on it. We left London because once we had the two kids we were never likely to let them out on their own and that’s no way to raise them 😦
