Fugitive Zinkhan’s body found in woods

By Calvin Palmer

The body of the University of Georgia professor suspected of killing three people was found today.

Police with dogs searching a wooded area in Bogart, Clarke County, found the body of marketing professor George Zinkhan 1.3 miles from where he abandoned his red Jeep Liberty.

The body was taken away at 1:45 p.m. and will be examined by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

A police officer on the scene said the body did not appear to be badly decomposed.

Zinkhan, 57,  was wanted by authorities in connection with the April 25 fatal shooting of his estranged wife, 47-year-old attorney Marie Bruce, and two members of her community theater group, Ben Teague, 63, and Tom Tanner, 40, in front of a theater in Athens.

After the triple killing, Zinkhan dropped his children off at a neighbor’s house and that was the last time he was seen.

Since then he managed to elude a nationwide manhunt.
