A Pennsylvania woman was charged today in the alcohol poisoning death of her six-month-old baby.
Wyoming County prosecutors say Jessica Minor, of Montrose, gave alcohol to her son, Mason, to stop him crying. The baby later died.
Wyoming County District Attorney George Skumanick said the baby’s blood-alcohol content was .205 – more than twice the legal limit for adult drivers.
Minor was charged with involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment. At a court appearance, she denied giving the baby alcohol.
She is free on $25,000 unsecured bail.
This sorry tale shows shoddy journalism at its best. It would be nice to know the age of Jessica Minor for a start, a customary journalist practice in Britain. Something other than her name and location would put some flesh on the story, too. Is she employed? Is she married or single?
The alleged incident occurred in 2007. That seems a little vague. The court documents would surely give the exact date.
The name of the court where Minor appeared appears to be another oversight.
And why has it taken at least a year, if not two, to bring these formal charges?
That is the real story.
