A woman and her 18-month-old daughter were found shot to death inside their Sugar Land home yesterday afternoon in what is believed to be a case of murder-suicide.
Kijuana Clark, 25, was found with her toddler, Halley, on her lap in an upstairs bathroom of the family home on Padgett Court.
“The baby was found in the bathtub with the mother,’’ said Chief Deputy Craig Brady. Each had a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. A .45-caliber pistol believed to have been used in the shootings was found in the empty tub.
The woman’s husband was mowing the lawn at their home about 2:30 p.m. When he went inside, he discovered the bodies and called 911.
Brady said the man did not hear the gunshots because of the noise from the lawn mower.
“He just lost his entire family,’’ said Fort Bend County sheriff’s Capt James Burger.
Sheriff’s officials said they have no reason to suspect the husband was responsible.
“The investigation has just barely begun,’’ Brady said. “There’s nothing to indicate the husband is not telling the truth.’’
The family was originally from Dallas and had recently moved into the home,
Clark had been suffering from emotional issues and may have been bipolar.
“But, she had been doing better lately,’’ Brady said.
The bodies were taken to the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office, where the cause of death will officially be confirmed.
