Seattle police yesterday arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the stabbing of two women as they slept in their home in the South Park neighborhood
Teresa Butz, 39, was killed and her 36-year-old partner was injured when they were stabbed by a man who apparently crawled in through an open window at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday.
Isaiah M.K. Kalebu was arrested with his pitbull in Magnuson Park after a transit driver told police he had seen man fitting their suspect description. Earlier in the day, policed released a photograph of Kalebu.
Sgt Sean Whitcomb said Kalebu was being questioned and would be booked into jail for investigation of murder.
The Seattle Times also reports that Kalebu is a person of interest in a University Place fire earlier this month that killed two people, including Kalebu’s aunt. The fire started the day after Kalebu’s aunt filed for a protection order against him and made him leave her house.
Kalebu has a history of mental illness and run-ins with police, Ed Troyer, spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, said after that fire.
