Weiner cocks up his political career but lacks the balls to resign

By Calvin Palmer

Rep. Anthony Weiner obviously has serious psychological issues. The Democratic U.S. Representative for New York’s 9th congressional district not only has the urge to send photographs of his penis to women across the United States but he then proceeds to lie when he is found out.

When the first photograph came to light, a rather tame shot of a bulge in Weiner’s boxer shorts that was allegedly sent to a female student in Seattle, the 46-year-old congressman claimed that his Facebook account had been hacked.

In a TV interview, Weiner complained that it was “dirty tricks” by the right wing of the Republican Party.

Three days ago, Weiner held a press conference where he admitted to sending photographs of himself to several women and then lying about it.

Weiner said in his statement he had never met any of these woman and regretted the pain he had caused his wife and family.

Now a more graphic image of Weiner has surfaced, courtesy of right-wing columnist Andrew Breitbart, which shows what is believed to be Weiner’s erect penis. This image was allegedly sent to a woman in Texas.

Any honorable politician exposed in this manner, and in Weiner’s case — literally exposed, would immediately tender his resignation. He can be forgiven for wanting to show off his manhood, maybe he is a frustrated porn star, but what is unforgiveable is his lying about it when found out.

Politicians have a reputation for being, at times, economical with the truth, it is the nature of politics to be so inclined. But blatant lying such as the kind Weiner has been engaged in crosses the Rubicon – it disgraces the office he holds.

He has to go.

Belatedly, in my opinion, such calls are now being made by members of the Democratic Party.

Rep. Allyson Y Schwartz (D-Pa.) issued a statement yesterday calling on Weiner to resign after his admission of engaging in virtual relationships with at least six women.

Schwartz said that “having the respect of your constituents is fundamental for a Member of Congress,” adding that in “light of Anthony Weiner’s offensive behavior online, he should resign.”

Schwartz joined Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor (Ark.), Rep. Michael H Michaud (Maine) and Rep. Joe Donnelly (Ind.), as well as former Democratic National Committee chairman Timothy M. Kaine, in calling on Weiner to step aside.

Weiner, according those close to him, remains insistent that he has broken no laws and has no plans to leave.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has called for a House ethics committee investigation but Democratic leaders have largely stayed silent about Weiner’s political fate. Barring a full House vote to expel him, he could probably remain in office at least until the next year’s election.

It has since emerged that Weiner’s wife, Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, is three months pregnant with the couple’s first child.

Abedin, 35, is reportedly still committed to the marriage and wants to help Weiner salvage his political career. She is with Hillary Clinton on a trip to the Middle East and North Africa.

I guess Weiner’s actions give a whole new meaning to acting like a dick!
